Judy Fletcher is the winner of the March Hospice Caregiver Award, presented by Horan & McConaty. She was nominated by Sally Carey who had the following to say about why she nominated Judy.
Judy Fletcher is an exemplary hospice volunteer having served with us for the past two and a half years. She is sensitive in her care for others, always respecting their values and offering her time and resources to help meet their emergent needs be it running errands, preparing meals, doing laundry, going on doctor appointments with them, reading scriptures and praying – whatever is needed for support at that time. She offers to help with larger projects too: welcome baskets, pet food acquisition, hosting volunteer training and so on as she lives her value of service to others, be they family, friends, neighbors, church members, shelter animals or hospice families.
Judy has been a strong participant in continuous learning, adding new information and skills (Reiki energy work, vigil and bereavement support) to better support the people in her life. Judy is generous not only with her time, but with her genuine spirit of selfless service in a way that never diminishes others but brings a strong sense of caring and compassion. Judy Fletcher embodies the best qualities of hospice care and our families have been enriched by her caring attention through her years of loving service. We should all be so lucky to have a ‘Judy Fletcher’ in our lives!
